Completed in Spring 2023, the New Hanover County Government Center is the first phase of the total New Hanover County Government Redevelopment Plan. The new government building is approximately 130,000SF, comprised of 105,000 SF new office space and a 25,000SF 911 Center, Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and Hub. The office portion is a four-story structure containing a public lobby with customer service desk, large meeting and training rooms, employee health center, and office space for nineteen County departments. The 911/EOC/Hub portion is a two-story building with hardened structure and redundant mechanical and electrical systems. The exterior skin of the building is predominantly tilt-up concrete with storefront windows and accents of stucco and cladding, and the roof is EPDM. Site work included a new parking lot that is shared with adjacent property owners, demolition of the existing building and a combination of landscape and hardscape areas.
