Thomas Construction Group is serving as construction manager for a new two-story, 69,963 SF medical office building in Brunswick County that will be operated by Columbus Regional Healthcare. The facility sits on a 6.5-acre site and will house nine medical service lines, including an ambulatory surgery center, imaging, urology, orthopedics, primary care, women’s health, gastroenterology, infusion services, and a central laboratory. The shell building is being constructed with a concrete tilt-wall structure supported by deep foundations, designed for long-term durability and clinical flexibility.
Delivered under a Construction Manager at Risk contract, Thomas was brought on during preconstruction rather than after design was locked. That early involvement is what made the difference. By proposing on-site casting beds instead of pouring panels directly on the building slab, the team decoupled slab construction from panel production, allowed phases to overlap, and pulled the schedule in by approximately one month. The result is a facility reaching the community faster, with less waste and fewer coordination gaps along the way.
