Thomas’s Presence in the Triangle Area: New 310 Mixed-Use Project

Thomas Helps Shape Raleigh Skyline
Thomas Construction Group Continues to Help Shape the Triangle Area’s Skyline.

If you’ve driven or walked by recently, you may have noticed that Washington Street in downtown Durham is starting to look significantly different. Wilmington-based general contractor, Thomas Construction Group, LLC (Thomas), is proud to announce that full demolition for the Wye Apartments is underway, and the layout has begun, as well as digging for the temporary pond. Located across from the Historic Durham Athletic Park, this mixed-use project will add to Durham’s expansive downtown scene. Upon completion, the mixed-use project will have approximately 310 apartment units, a parking deck, and retail space.

The 310 units will be split over two wrap apartment buildings, one six-story building with 233 units and a second, five-story building consisting of 77 units with an open-air connecting bridge between the buildings. Both buildings will have commercial spaces at the ground level, and there will also be a retail plaza outside of one of the ground-floor spaces in the 6-story building. Additionally, there will be a swimming pool & clubhouse. The precast parking deck will provide a total of 400+ parking spaces.

“Thomas is thrilled at the opportunity to help Durham shape a new skyline for its growing community,” said Vince Tryer, VP of Operations. “The Triangle Area has a significant impact on Wilmington’s economy as our small slice of paradise has benefited from the development boom happening in Durham, Raleigh, and the surrounding areas.”

The developer and owner of this project is Ram Realty Advisors, and the Architect of Record is Cline Design Associates. The project is located at 701 Washington Street in Durham, NC.
