Earlier this year, Thomas Construction Group, LLC (Thomas) broke ground on a new Medical Office Building located in Novant Health’s Medical Center in Brunswick County, N.C. Thomas was originally contracted to provide preconstruction & design-assistance for the building and later contracted for the full construction services by Trask Land Company (Developer), and Novant Health. The two-story building is a concrete tilt-wall structure and will total approximately 34,000 SF upon completion. Plans for this design-build project were created in conjunction with architectural firm LS3P Associates Ltd.
The new tenants within the building will include: Cape Fear Heart Associates, Oceanside Family Medicine, Novant Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Novant Health Cardiac Rehab, Novant Health Surgical Associates & Plastics, and an Outpatient Infusion space, in addition to the main Lobby area. Designs and upfit plans for the individual offices have been finalized and Thomas has been contracted to complete these projects, in addition to the core + shell of the building.
Many of the new medical offices will feature state-of-the-art components and innovative features, which will enable providers to offer the most comprehensive care, in the area. These features include, but are not limited to, a large gym with an indoor track, Men’s & Women’s locker rooms, 3 therapy rooms and an education room in the Cardiac Rehab office. Cape Fear Heart Associates’ will be comprised of 18 total exam rooms, 2 echo rooms, 1 lab and 1 stress room, with more specialty rooms for support staff. The NH Surgical Associates & Plastics office will entail 14 exam rooms and 3 procedure rooms (with more space for office functions), Oceanside Family Medicine will have 11 exam rooms, 2 vitals stations and a large nurse station, and NH Orthopedics & Sports Medicine will have a total of 12 exam rooms and 4 specialty rooms, including an Imagining room, 2 nurse stations and an open office space for Scheduling. The Outpatient Infusion space will have an open layout able to accommodate 5 patients, simultaneously.
The medical office building & new offices will greatly serve the Brunswick and surrounding communities with convenient and thoughtful care, that is easily accessible for all. The new accommodations will allow for expanded services and hours and will have a trickle-effect in the Bolivia-area, allowing other practices to takeover these tenants’ previous medical offices for even further expansion in the area.
