Welcome to the Cape Fear Academy Campus Master Plan update hub! This page will serve as a central resource for tracking key project milestones, construction progress, and important announcements. Our goal is to keep parents, students, staff, and community members informed every step of the way.
Project Overview
Cape Fear Academy is embarking on an exciting, transformational multi-year campus improvement program. Guided by the Campus Master Plan, Phase I represents the first major step toward creating a safer, more efficient, and more inspiring learning environment for all CFA students–from Little Explorers through Upper School. The construction program addresses aging facilities, enrollment growth, site circulation challenges, security enhancements, and the need for expanded academic, dining, arts, and athletic spaces.
Phase I focuses on building new instructional spaces, upgrading existing facilities, and initiating key site improvements–all while keeping the school fully operational throughout construction.

INTERESTED IN AN INTERNSHIP AT THOMAS?
At Thomas, we believe construction on an active school campus should be an educational opportunity. Throughout Cape Fear Academy’s campus improvements, we’ll create meaningful ways for students to stay engaged–from guided site tours and classroom talks to behind-the-scenes updates that show how their new spaces are being built.
Upper School students will also have access to internship and shadowing opportunities with Thomas, offering hands-on experience in project management, field operations, estimating, and construction technology. These real-world roles help students explore careers in architecture, engineering, and construction while contributing to the work happening on their own campus.
Our goal is to turn this construction process into a learning experience that sparks curiosity, builds practical skills, and connects CFA students to career paths right here in their community.
