Creating the Workplace We Want to Be Part Of

Culture is often described as something a company has. At Thomas Construction Group, we believe it is something each of us helps create.

It shows up in the way we communicate, the way we support one another and the energy we bring to the workplace each day. It is found in the big moments, but also in the everyday ones the conversations in the office kitchen, the laughter around the lunch table and the teammates who take the time to check in, lend a hand or make someone’s day a little better. That is what it means to Own the Culture.

A strong workplace culture is not created by a single person, department or initiative. It is shaped by the choices we all make. Every interaction contributes to the experience of being part of the Thomas team. The way we welcome a new employee, collaborate across departments, communicate through a challenge or recognize someone’s contribution all help define who we are as a company.

Owning the culture means understanding that we each have an opportunity to positively influence the people around us. It means showing up with intention and helping create an environment where people feel valued, respected and connected. The nature of our work requires collaboration. From the office to the jobsite, successful projects depend on people with different roles, experiences and perspectives working toward a shared goal.

Building those strong working relationships often begins outside of formal meetings and project discussions. It happens during team lunches, company gatherings, volunteer opportunities and the informal conversations that allow us to get to know one another beyond our job titles. Those moments of connection matter. They strengthen trust, improve communication and remind us that while we may work in different departments or on different projects, we are all part of one team.

Owning the culture also means recognizing that our actions affect the people around us. It can look like offering support when a teammate is overwhelmed, sharing knowledge that can help someone grow or taking the time to celebrate a job well done. It means approaching conversations with respect, following through on commitments and helping others feel included.

These actions may seem small, but together they create a workplace where people know they can depend on one another.

At Thomas, culture is not separate from the work we do. It influences how we collaborate, how we solve problems and how we serve our clients and communities.

When we take ownership of the environment around us, we strengthen our teams and the company as a whole. We create a place where people enjoy working together, feel encouraged to contribute and are proud to be part of what we are building. Own the Culture is a reminder that each of us plays a role in shaping the Thomas experience.

One Thomas. One standard. That’s the Thomas Five.
