Voices from the Field: Women of Thomas Share Their Perspective on Construction Careers

During Women in Construction Week, we took a moment to hear directly from the women of Thomas Construction Group about their experiences in the industry.

We asked a few simple questions about their careers in construction, what helped them build confidence in their roles, the most rewarding parts of the job, and the advice they would offer to the next generation of women entering the field.

While each perspective was unique, a common theme emerged: growth comes from experience, collaboration, and the willingness to step forward and take ownership of challenges. Confidence is built over time through mentorship, supportive teams, and opportunities to lead.

Many of the women shared that the most rewarding part of their work is seeing a project come to life and knowing they played a role in bringing it together. Construction is inherently collaborative, and the ability to work alongside talented teams to solve problems and deliver meaningful projects is what makes the work so fulfilling.

Their advice for young women considering a career in construction is simple: be curious, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to take on new challenges. The industry continues to evolve, and there is tremendous opportunity for those willing to learn and grow.

The perspectives shared by these women highlight the resilience, leadership, and dedication that continue to shape the future of construction. Their contributions strengthen our teams, our projects, and the culture we are Always Building at Thomas.
